Heather Kerwin has her master in public health with an emphasis in epidemiology from the University of Nevada Reno. She worked as an infectious disease epidemiologist for the state of New Mexico for two years before moving back to Reno to pursue her career in public health and research-related fields.
Heather currently holds many part-time positions in the health field including being a statistician for the Washoe County Health District, adjunct lecturer for the School of Community Health Science at UNR, and has conducted various county and statewide health assessments. Heather’s initial interest in food began at a young age in her family’s garden. She hopes to continue to educate others about the importance of healthy food and help reduce food insecurity by advocating and supporting sustainable and local food resources.
